Informed Choice
Open Letter
January 12 2022
Dear Premier Tim Houston and Dr. Strang,
Informed consent has become increasingly complicated during COVID-19. It seems clear that the government, most of the media and public health want it both ways. They want everyone to take the injections that they promote, and they want it to appear that everyone consented to receiving the injection legally.
A person I know who received their injections as they were threatened by a mandate told me an interesting story. When they were receiving their second injection they were asked twice by the person performing the injection if they consented. Flabbergasted by the question they finally answered that they would lose their job if they did not receive the injection. After that the injection was administered. In no way can this be construed as informed consent. The question is why is anyone talking about consent at all, when it is clear that consent does not matter to the authorities running this show?
More than 20 years ago, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that patients’ should be told anything about a treatment that a reasonable person in that patient's condition would want to be told. According to the Canadian Medical Protective Association website, which may need to be updated, discussion with the patient and consent from the patient are needed for situations including injecting vaccines or other drugs.
It seems likely that any reasonable person would want to know that boosters would be recommended for their treatment to continue to work, but was anyone informed of this when they were given their first two injections? Or was that not a convenient way to sell this product?
Sincerely
Renee
